Scissor 'Do Nots'

  • Store your scissors loosely, without securing the tips or handles in some way. The tips can be damaged, handles bent, and edge nicks can occur.

  • Cut anything other than hair with your scissors. Hair scissors are intended for cutting hair ONLY, and you run the risk of dulling or otherwise damaging them.

  • Drop or toss your scissors when putting them down

  • Torque the handles to push the blades together in order to cut. This will cause excess wear on the scissor's edges.

  • Allow just anyone to sharpen your scissors. Japanese and German style hair scissors are meant to be sharpened in very specific ways.
